The Ceylon Grand Tour in all its splendor starts off with an equally grand welcome after which the guests would be able to have some much needed rest at a luxurious hotel in Negombo. With regained strength and enthusiasm we will be departing to see ancient cave temples, rural villages, world heritage sites, the waterfalls, spice gardens, golden beaches and much more while enjoying the affects of all seasons during the journey to different parts of the country, which is one of those unique features of Sri Lanka. With the excitement rising sky high we would definitely take it to the pinnacle before the end with our jeep safaris and game drives through some of the most diverse of wildlife parks in Sri Lanka.

  • Day 1 AIR PORT | NEGOMBO

    Ayubowan! You have arrived at Sri Lanka You are welcomed by Ceylon Gate Travel representative and take care of your fatigue after long hours of journey by air, and make you relax in a hotel in Negombo with all that care! Lagoon Excursion. You will get the experience of mangroves and wetland ecosystem in this estuary where there are two main rivers bring in fresh water into this traditional fishing lagoon, among water birds egrets, cormorants, ducks, herons, terns, kingfishers, eagles, water monitor and land monitor are very common. Take a boat and explore the lagoon! You also can visit the toddy tapping and taste the coconut nectar a traditional beer in Sri Lanka.

  • Day 2 NEGOMBO | HABARANA

    Negombo is an old main city with a beach, harbor, and a lagoon, that has old Dutch port, with a population of over 1500000. A mix of different religions such as Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, and Muslims.

    DEPARTURE TO DAMBULLA TO VISIT THE CAVE TEMPLE

    A cave declared as a temple in the 2 BC, with 153 Buddha statues, three statues of kings and four statues of gods and goddess inside! With 2100 sq meters of murals! On a stone cliff face. It is 200m above from the surroundings that you can walk up in 30 minutes. Another world heritage site declared by UNESCO in the year 1991.

  • Day 3 HABARANA | SIGIRIYA | MINNERIYA | HABARANA
    VISIT SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS

    Do you like to have a walk into a Palace on a rock! Where there is a water garden, frescos, and a mirror wall! Built in the 4 century AD, another world heritage site declared by UNESCO in the year 1982.

    JEEP SAFARI AT MINNERIYA

    Do you love, enjoying the elephant watching? the largest mammal on earth! Safari jeep will take you into the wilderness of Minneriya national park, during the month of August ‘The Great Gathering of Elephants is a lifetime experience! Best opportunity to observe elephant behavior, in 40 to 100 elephants in different locations of the park.

  • Day 4 HABARANA | ANURADHAPURA | AUKANA | HABARANA
    VISIT ANCIENT CITY IN ANURADHAPURA

    You have a great opportunity to visit the oldest recorded tree in the world! Ficus religiosa, in the first ancient capital city of Sri Lanka, which is a world heritage site.

    VISIT AUKANA BUDDHA STATUE

    The tallest ancient standing Buddha statue 11.36 m in height, built in 8 AD by an unknown sculpture according to the Anuradhapura school of arts. It is carved on a granite rock with Abhaya Mudra (Posture of blessing) and elaborately carved robe.

  • Day 5 POLONNARUWA | MEDIRIGIRIYA | HABARANA
    DEPARTURE TO POLONNARUWA ANCIENT CITY

    During the day, you will get the opportunity to explore medieval capital of Sri Lanka- Pollonnaruwa. Have you ever heard of an Ocean inside the country? Then you are there in a reservoir built in the 11 century which is called Ocean of the great king Parakaramabahu! then you can visit the ancient site on a guided cycle ride, which takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

  • Day 6 HABARANA | MATALE | KANDY
    VISIT BATIK FACTORY MATALE

    Batik is a very time-consuming handmade technique where hot wax is applied to the fabric before dying. Once the wax is dry, the fabric is dyed, and the wax boiled off. This process is repeated several times, to create a design with several colors. A simple batik might have one or two colors, however, a more complex one will show a range of colors with more advanced designs. Contribute to the local industry while you get the handmade product of Sri Lanka. Spice Garden. Sri Lanka is famous for its best Cinnamon and other spices, here you will enjoy the tour inside the garden where you can touch and feel the plants that produce it! And you will be amazed to hear about the medicinal properties of ingredients used in cooking and treatments.

    LUNCH AT THE SPICE GARDEN

    On conclusion proceed to Kandy. The most important temple for the Buddhist all over the world, mainly for the left canine tooth of Buddha is placed inside a seventh golden casket! Further you can experience the pilgrims who come in white dress and the way of worship! It is a great cultural experience of its kind.

    CULTURAL DANCE PERFORMANCE

    Enjoy one hour of Sri Lankan classical dance. They differ in their styles of body-movements and gestures, in the costumes worn by the performers, and in the shape and size of the drums used to provide rhythmic sound patterns to accompany the dancing it features a highly developed system of "tala" (rhythm), provided by cymbals called "thalampataa".

  • Day 7 KANDY | NUWARAELIYA

    Departure to Nuwara Eliya en-route visit a Tea Plantation and a tea Factory. The best Ceylon tea in a lush green mountain site, with an experience of tea plucking by yourself! Then a nice fresh cup of tea! Or “tea-coffee mix”. A different experience with your partner!

    AFTERNOON CITY TOUR IN NUWARA ELIYA

    The coldest city in Sri Lanka is Nuwara Eliya, average temperature is of 20.2 C annually. Its popular as little England due the climate and building architecture of British style that was built during the colonial period of the country in 19 AD.

  • Day 8 NUWARAELIYA | ELLA | YALA
    DEPARTURE TO YALA EN ROUTE VISIT ELLA SURROUNDINGS

    A simple hamlet now changes into a major tourist stop, yet the charming natural beauty is still untouched! Little Adams Peak, Rawana water fall and nine arch bridge is famous attractions!!

    EVENING LEAVE FOR GAME DRIVE IN YALA NATIONAL PARK

    The second largest national park in Sri Lanka covering 979 square Km of which consist of 5 blocks that contain thorny forests, grasslands, sandy beach, dry and moist monsoon forests, and marine wetlands. You are so lucky to have the opportunity to observe 7 endemic birds out of 215 bird species that are found in this park. ashy-headed babbler (Garrulax cinereifrons), Sri Lanka white-headed starling (Sturnus senex), Sri Lanka wood pigeon (Columba torringtoni), green-billed Coucal (Centropus chlororrhynchus) and Sri Lanka broad-billed roller (Eurystomus orientalis irisi). It does play an important role in protecting Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus), the highest density in the world, endemic purple-faced Langur (Presbytis senex), elephants, sloth bear, wild water buffalo and alligators.

  • Day 9 YALA | GALLE | COLOMBO
    DEPARTURE TO COLOMBO EN ROUTE VISIT GALLE FORT

    Another world heritage site where you find European architecture in Asian culture, built by Portuguese, expanded by Dutch and British between 15 to 19 AD. It is historical, archeological, and architectural living heritage today.

    ON ARRIVAL COMMENCE CITY/SHOPPING TOUR IN COLOMBO

    You will have the opportunity to visit the capitol of Sri Lanka including a city tour on your way, and to do some shopping together!

  • Day 10 COLOMBO | AIRPORT

    Returning you by way of a scenic drive to the international airport for your departing flight and a safe journey home.
